Introducing Heal: The most convenient way to get pediatric care for your kids on demand.
Sponsored by Heal
I gave birth to twin boys during a pandemic and it only added to the natural stresses and challenges of being a new mom. Now that the cold and flu season is upon us, just the thought of going to the doctor can be daunting. I always think twice about taking my children to the doctors office, especially now that COVID-19 cases are on the rise and I am doing my best to prevent my family from falling ill. How will I ever be able to see a pediatrician without going into a room full of sick kids? Luckily, I found an amazing solution that brings back the old tradition of the doctor coming directly to my house. Introducing Heal; a service for children and adults that allows you to schedule house calls or telemedicine appointments with an experienced doctor. No longer do you need to worry about being exposed to germ-filled doctors offices.
What is Heal?
Heal is a safer and more convenient way to see a doctor rather than going to an ER or urgent care. They have amazing pediatricians and general practitioners on demand that will come to your house or make a telemedicine call to suit both you and your child’s health needs. They even have an app that is free and easy to download to schedule your appointment. I am a new member of the Heal community and I can honestly say my experience was fabulous. Here’s how to start: Head to the app store on your phone and download Heal. Once it’s downloaded you can register an account, set up your profile, and enter your home address. You can also add family members as patients in your profile like I did. From there, you can schedule at your convenience a licensed doctor to come to your home for your medical needs whether it’s treatment for an illness, injury, or just a simple check up. They can even administer flu shots and a variety of common vaccinations during the visit. Heal offers a wide array of doctors that work in pediatrics, urgent, primary and preventive care and can assess almost anything you’d otherwise need to go to the doctor’s office for. They now even offer therapists to care for your mental health needs. You can also make telemedicine calls directly from your computer and speak to a doctor over the web. It’s that easy! Heal is covered by many insurance plans, including: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Health Net, UnitedHealthcare AND they also accept Medicare/Medicare Advantage PPO plans. If you are not covered under insurance, they also offer an affordable flat fee that you can pay by credit card. Before you confirm your appointment, the price of the visit appears on your screen meaning no surprise costs or bills after the appointment. How amazing is that?!?
My Personal Experience with Heal
I want to write about my personal experience with Heal because I can’t rave enough about it. I scheduled our appointment for Thursday, December 3rd, 2020, between the hours of 10am and 12pm (they give you a two hour timeframe). The pediatrician arrived with a nurse assistant and both were punctual, professional, well-equipped, and extremely caring. Due to COVID cases in California soaring to record high levels, we thought it was best to meet them outside with masks on (you can read on Heal’s website how they take precautions to protect their patients from COVID-19 exposure). The pediatrician gave the boys a thorough check up and administered their annual flu shots since they can now safely receive them at 6 months old. The doctor answered numerous questions I had on preventing the kids from getting sick (both during the pandemic and the typical flu season). He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely informative. The nurse alongside him also administered flu shots to both my husband and I so the whole family was able to get vaccinated and have one less thing to worry about. What a relief! I have a low threshold for pain but they made me feel comfortable to the point that I barely even felt the shot. Awesome! The best part? I was able to get help from a doctor in the comfort of my own home. I would highly recommend using Heal, especially if you have high anxiety like I do or have an aversion to going to the doctor like my husband does. Just the thought of being examined by a doctor is something many people dread; having them come to you, in the familiar and comfortable setting of your own home, really helps ease your white coat phobias.
