Desert Rose: A weekend in the desert and Palm Springs <3
This past weekend, my friends and I decided to drive out to the desert to escape all the smoke filled clouds that are currently hovering over L.A. and head out to the desert and have a Palm Springs Getaway. These fires occur relatively frequently around Los Angeles and are scary and sad for those people who lose their homes. Nevertheless, Palm Springs was on our agenda and it was pure magic. Most people tend to visit Palm Springs during festival season when Coachella is in town and it’s a bit hotter. The weather was perfect this past weekend and there is something beautiful about being in the desert because you feel like you are one with nature and you’re inner spirit animal comes out. There are many places you can stop along the way including The Cabazon Outlets, The Famous Dinosaurs, and The Windmills. Palm Springs has always been a fabulous oasis only two hours outside of LA and is known for a variety of activities including: biking, golf, hiking, horseback riding, swimming, and tennis. The city is also known for its mid-century style architecture, design elements, arts and cultural scene.
THE WINDMILLS
I would spend all day here if I could. There is so much beauty here, especially when the sky turns those pretty pinkish hues, just before nightfall. The Golden Hour really comes alive here and there is magic in the air. I danced around at dusk in my cute dress from Free People and my jacket from Anthropologie. Those are some of my favorite brands to wear as they allow me to express my true self, a wild spirit.
WONDERING: WHERE TO STAY IN PALM SPRINGS
There are so many accomodations in Palm Springs, it’s really hard to choose! Many people opt for the AirBnB lifestyle and rent a house which is fun to do with your friends. For this staycation however, we chose The Infusion Hotel, right in the heart of downtown. It is such a cute spot and they have Kombucha on tap in the lobby! Super fun place, lots of young people, and the rooms are charming with a ton of style! They have an old coca-cola machine which we shot so perfectly to match my PicNPay boots! How cute are these red boots? I love the zipper on the side and the button in the back. Super cute for fall and have that perfect pop of color!
Price: $220 a night (on the weekend) $75 a night during the week
DOWNTOWN PALM SPRINGS
Many people come from all over the world to visit Palm Springs. Aside from the famous Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festivals, visitors love to come here for spring break and take a break from the grueling city life. Palm Springs and the more affluent nearby Palm Desert are known for their mid century modern architecture and for being a getaway home to movie stars and A-listers from all over; even for former president Obama! It also has the highest concentration of same-sex couples of any community in the United States. So interesting! The downtown area is known for it’s super cute restaurants and colorful boutiques! For this shoot, I chose my favorite new skirt from Anthropologie because it reminded me of The Wild West. I’m also so in love with this Top from Topshop because of the darling ruffles!
